Earthquake

Noto and many other surrounding towns, were almost completely destroyed in a severe earthquake in 1693.

Baroque Architecture

The Baroque architecture found throughout Noto is due to the town-wide reconstruction in the early 18th century.

1996 Duomo Reconstruction

A large part of the cathedral collapsed in 1996. The reconstruction took 11 years to complete!

Taking place in late May, the Infiorata is a colourful celebration. Via Nicolaci is decorated with wonderful flowers, creating a unique design each year. Beautiful!
